Dave‘s experience in the software industry includes algorithm development for largescale image processing for semiconductor manufacturing applications, custom information processing applications, and professional digital audio processing software. He was most recently the software architect and project lead for the algorithm subsystem of a wafer inspection tool developed by KLATencor Corporation. Dave received his B.A. in Physics from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1990, and his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Riversidein 1993. His Ph.D. thesis, “A Theoretical Model of Gamma Ray Bursts”, introduced a new type of dynamical behavior now being applied in diverse fields such as biology. He spent several years as a research physicist in the field of gamma-ray astronomy, developing and applying novel methods for statistical image analysis. Dave was the lead scientist in the discovery of the “gamma-ray halo”, a faint glow of high-energy radiation surrounding the Milky Way galaxy, one of the major scientific achievements of NASA’s Compton Gamma Ray Observatory mission. Dave was honored as a Fellow of the Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics in 1996 for his contributions in gamma-ray astrophysics. Dave’s greatest pleasure in life comes from spending timewith his wife, son, and daughter.
